  • February 2023

Well here we are new moth already - wow January normally takes all year but this one has flown. Recording the new album has been given the can treatment and I am now working on a EP although I have recorded what would have been the first track of the album - work that out? Anyway that's about it apart from a gig this Saturday 11th February at the Venu Bucks University High Wycombe.

  • January 2023

Well happy new year to you all. HogersWolf is is looking forward to this being a great year of music, Its got off to a good start Gig wise which is uber encouraging. For January the gigs are as follows - January 19th: Supporting Bill Mckinnon at The Unicorn Theatre Thames Street Abingdon Oxon OX14 3JF / 7.00PM January 20th: A Night of Original acts Port Mahon 82 St. Clements Street Oxford OX4 1AW / 8:30PM. Recording wise the album has stalled, the project is much bigger than before and the technical requirements as a musician and recording engineer are beyond where I am starting the project at. Hopefully by the end I will have grown into all the requirements to successfully complete "Folking Progcrastination". Which is turning out to be an appropriate title. So finger out and finish the unfinished songs and get recording those that are finished. Happy new year!!!

  • Yule Tidings - Happy Christmas

Yule Tidings, Happy Christmas, Wassail! Peace and good will believe it and it will come true Have a fabulous Holiday Season - Eat, Drink and Make Merry!!!

  • November to December

As the Yule season approaches I thought I better get a little out there about what I have been doing. I have been mainly working in the studio, releasing a single "Smile" a month or so back (streaming well). I have also re-recorded "Yule Tidings This Christmas" due for release on all the major services from 5th December 2022, already available on Band Camp. I have also been working on new songs for the album due in 2023 (Folking Prograstination). Its a long and hard process to take my acoustic based songs and turn them into conceptual songs with a bigger sound. My skills as a musician are limiting, as it is only me in the studio. The same applies to the production. Hopefully by the end of 2023 I will be more rounded and more proficient at all these things On a happy final note I have some bookings for some very good gigs next year already, I will start letting you know about them as of January.

  • September - October

Well here we go into the autumn, looking forward through Samhain / Halloween to mid winter and to the festive season. So what's been going on. I finished the summer with some great gigs. The Thame food festival, then a Far -Out organised event at the Mad Squirrel in High Wycombe and an opening slot at the famous Jericho Tavern in Oxford. All good nights, thoroughly enjoyed. I have also released a single called "The Smile" very excited by this as this has me adding drums to HogersWolf mix of instruments. Played by Andy Hogger as are all the instruments. I am in the middle of re-recording my Christmas song which hopefully will be up for release at the beginning of December. I will be recording for the best part of 2023 as work to finish my first album release "Folking Progcrastination" continues. Not much to talk of in the way of gigs in the coming months. More and more pubs offering live music are asking for covers acts. Not my bag - and as we enter party season a slightly bigger nuisance for an originals act. Still Iam not down beat there is plenty of verbal offers for some cracking venues next year. Happy Halloween!!

  • August to September

Well August has flown by - it was hot and dry. Just a hand full of live dates through the month and the completion of one song of the planned album in the studio. Its a rare love song for me of which I am struggling to come up with a title. September sees the continuation in the "Little Home Studio" and some gig dates as well. I will be playing at the Thame, Oxfordshire food festival on 24th September in the afternoon and at the Mad Squirrel in High Wycombe in the evening of 24th September. see the below flyer. There does seem to be a complete retraction in the amount of live music venues available, its been a long standing issue. However, the crises in the pub world is starting to limit opportunities there too. Please get out there and watch local live talent before you can only go and see £200 a ticket manufactured artists of which you are force fed. A little about the album, it will be a folk prog rock in spirit, collection of songs. Some previous recordings will get a revisit, complete with about 5 or six new songs that range from complete to works in progress. I am taking my time so that I can sound engineer these recordings beyond the "that will do" approach of the past. As my understanding of sound engineering / mixing grows so does my desire to deliver better. It will be the usual band members again along with addition of our new drummer Drew Hogger. There will be a couple of early single releases from the album over the coming months so you will get to hear his work fairly soon. Here is looking forward to the autumn

  • High Summer June into July

Well June is now nearly July - The solstice is days away, I have been busy gigging and making new friends. Talking of which I will playing at the Far Out festival on 2nd July. Looking forward to this as there many friends attending from my musical travels through Bucks, Berks and Oxon. Next up on 9th July is Thame Town Music festival, which is a well established music festival with multiple stages at various points and venues in the town centre. Excited to be a part of this. I will then on the same day be moving swiftly on to the Downley festival, High Wycombe HP13 5XP to play an evening set approximately 19:30hrs. Set on Downley common which sits on the hills above High Wycombe. I am hoping for a great view across the Chilterns and a fabulous sunset. The following Saturday, 16th July, I am playing on the HMV stage at the Eden shopping Centre in High Wycombe Town centre, along with a handful of other acts throughout the afternoon. Sunday 17th July sees a return to the Old Anchor 1 St Helens Wharf Abingdon OX14 5EN a couple of hours of music from 16:00hrs. Its then Holiday time and a break from the busy summer weekends. August should see me back and busy in the studio. Solstice blessings may the sun shine bright on crowns of oak, we certainly need the crops to be plentiful this year with the war in Ukraine affecting grain supplies around the world!

The new EP is going great guns its only been out a month and has already hit 1200 streams on Spotify alone, awaiting stats from the other streaming services. Work has started on on the album due next year that will be called Folking Progcrastination. Yes there will be a-lot of long songs in those prog folk traditions. I will also be recording three songs prior to Christmas / Yule. I will tell you about those nearer the time. Well enjoy the Summer people.

  • April

Well April is well on its way the EP is recorded mastered and awaiting full release on 29th April 2022. Entitled "Catrice and the Others Than They Are". Its a little more Prog Folk than the last and I am generally happy with it. Its also on CD and I do have to say that the art work is superb. Very happy with it indeed. The EP has a song on it written by Catrice Greer a lovely and very talented American poet I met online during lock down through the Open Micsolate facebook site.
